Duo From Levittown, Brooklyn Facing Drug Possession Charges After Traffic Stop Upstate

Two people are facing drug possession charges following a traffic stop upstate, police say.

New York State Police say they observed a violation and conducted a traffic stop on a 2019 Chevrolet on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Claverack on Thursday, May 23 around 4:50 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that the occupants, identified as  Zachary Costantini, 20, of Levittown and Benjamin Meyer, 24, of Brooklyn were in possession of the following:

  • 1.4 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms
  • 140 grams of edible marijuana
  • 54 grams of marijuana
  • 65 doses of LSD
  • 2.75 grams of LSD candy
  • 2.6 grams of MDMA
  • 2 grams of Adderall
  • 258 grams of concentrated cannabis

Police say Meyer also attempted to tamper with evidence to avoid prosecution.

Meyer and Costantini were arrested, processed and arraigned before the town of Claverack Court. Meyer was charged with:

  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony
  • Tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (four counts), a Class A misdemeanor
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor

Costantini was charged with:

  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (two counts), a Class C felony
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (three counts), a Class A misdemeanor
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor

Meyer and Costantini were remanded to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secure bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 29.
